Installing VLC in Ubuntu, elementary OS, Linux Mint

VLC 3.0 is already available in Ubuntu Software Center and Linux Mint Software Center. Therefore, you can simply search for VLC and install it. Elementary OS’s AppCenter still has VLC 2.2.2, but should take a couple of days more for the new one to arrive. For those who want to do it command-line way, proceed as follows:

Step 1) Launch Terminal.

Step 2) Enter the following command to update your computer. Elementary OS users may need to first enable PPA before going using below commands.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

Step 3) Finally, use this command to install VLC.

sudo apt-get install vlc

That’s it!
